Normally when you brew coffee in a French press, you press the plunger all the way down. The mesh filter keeps most of the coffee grounds at the bottom but sometimes fine sediments sneak through into your cup. Instead of pushing the plunger down fully, you can lower it just enough so the mesh filter sits at the top of the liquid.
